An article on Sky News and referenced by Fox News reports a huge Google outage Friday evening, August 23rd. The outage lasted for 5 minutes, denying users access to Google Apps, Gmail, Google Drive and search results.
Google Apps for business users may have had some email bounce during this “total eclipse”, however Google has not released any other comments other than the downtime being acknowledges on their Apps Status Board.
In the past, reported outages have sent bounce backs from Gmail, prompting the need for Ninja’s Email Continuity service that would be considered “off-site” email continuity.
Ninja’s service resides in our Kansas City data center and not on Google’s network in any way. When Google Apps for business goes down, Ninja user’s email is queued on our servers, stored and delivered when Google Apps came back online.
